Dutch production house Endemol is no longer going to be making cult reality TV show Big Brother for Viacom’s UK terrestrial channel, Channel 5. It announced that it was “disappointed not to reach an agreement with Channel 5”, following Channel 5’s admission to the BBC that “the forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last – of either celebrity or civilian versions ­– on Channel 5”.

Quick Take: Universal’s Partnership with Facebook

Following its renewed deal with YouTube earlier this week, Universal has signed another landmark agreement for digital monetisation, this time with Facebook. Described by the world’s largest recorded music label as ‘unprecedented’, Facebook users,under the terms of the partnership, will now be able to upload videos that contain licensed music across Facebook’s assets.

Medium’s Job Cuts Are Symptomatic Of A Bigger Issue In Online Publishing Monetisation

Twitter co-founder Evan William’s quality written content platform Medium announced yesterday it would be cutting around a third of its staff, chiefly those in its ad-sales team. In delivering the announcement, Williams pertinently wrote: ‘Upon further reflection, it is clear that the broken system is ad-driven media on the Internet.
