Artificial intelligence is imposing revolutionary change on the creator economy. Tried and tested workflows are being automated, streamlined, and recalibrated by large language learning models that are promising to rid creators of tedious tasks. How readily creators embrace AI will depend on their skill and role within the industry. Long-standing creators with deep-rooted methods of delivering content may find it harder to let AI take the wheel. Meanwhile, early-stage creators who start their creative journey with AI may never feel the need to get so hands on with traditional tools to make their content sing.

This will also differ on a project-by-project basis. Social marketing campaigns prioritising speed may lean harder into automation and generation than a movie editor who wants control of all the tools for a precise cut. There is also a question of trust. While AI tools have existed for some time, it is only now that concerns over copyright, job replacement, and the consistency of delivery are being met with robust scrutiny.

If the industry is to truly understand the creator perspective on AI tools, then it needs to ensure that there is an open channel of communication that ensures video creator voices are heard. At MIDiA Research, we are committed to taking up that mantle to help demystify what creators really think about AI tools and communicate what changes they want to see to ensure the industry truly reflects their needs.

MIDiA has launched a comprehensive but quick, 10-minute survey that gives video creators a direct line into the companies shaping both AI and creator tools more generally. As well as asking key questions about AI preferences, we are also delving deep into the motivations, ambitions, and pain points of video creators. This will provide a clear picture to product developers to ensure the next generation of tools can be forged with creators in mind.  

Without such an approach, there is danger that sweeping statements can be made and nuances ignored to the detriment of getting the right tools that truly elevate creativity.

What is in it for you?

Not only will your insights help the creator economy reach its potential, but there is a chance to win a slice of MIDiA’s $1,000 prize fund.

This consists of two cash prizes of $250 and four cash prizes of $50, which will be drawn randomly and awarded to those who participate in the survey.

MIDiA is also providing a $50 cash prize to each of the six chosen participants who complete an additional face-to-face interview.

All participants in the survey will also receive a short summary of the survey results.
