The 20,000 Foot View: 2016 was the turnaround year for the global recorded music business. The prevailing sentiment among battle-scarred label executives was one of cautious optimism. The first quarter results for 2017 suggest they might be able to afford themselves a little less confidence and a little more optimism. Combined major revenues were XXX billion, up XXX from XXX 2016. Streaming was the driving factor in 2016 and it was once again in XXX 2017, registering XXX billion, up XXX year-on-year.
